What is Emergency Generator, Location and It's Regulations?
Emergency Generator:
Back up Electrical System in the event of main power supply failure. Within 45 seconds emergency generator should start and give power to emergency source.
Location:
Emergency generator with it's switchboard is located in a compartment outside the engine room above the uppermost continuous deck and not forward of the collision bulkhead.
Regulations:
- It should be above longitudinal continuous deck.
- It shouldn't be forward of the collision bulkhead.
- compartment should be accessible from the open deck.
- It should be able to start at 0°C in cold weather.
- Heaters should be provided (for cold weather, JCW system must be treated with anti-freeze agent)
- Fuel flash point shouldn't below 43°C.
- Fuel tank capacity should be last long for 18 hours.
- Two starting medium must be available.
- Each medium should be capable to give three starts consecutively in 30 minutes without charged.
- It should be capable of operating with a list up to 22 1/2° and a trim up to 10°.
