CO2 Fixed Fire Fighting System
Co2 BOTTLE REGULATION
- Ship of 200gt and above and machinery space of 500m3 and above should have fixed fire fighting System.
- 85% of co2 will release within 2 mint (REASON- THE RAPID INJECTION OF CO2 IS NECESSARY TO COMPACT AN ENGINE ROOM FIRE, WHICH HAS ATTENDED TO SUCH MAGNITUDE THAT SPACE TO EVACUATED.)
- co2 bottle kept in the temp of below 55°C.
- Co2 bottle normal pressure 53bar it will differ by temperature.
- Without sypton tube will ensure that fully discharge of co2. (Without sypton tube low discharge and bottle will freeze because of lantern heat .
- Busting disk will rupture 177 bar @ temperature of 63°C .
- Once co2 will release in a space oxygen percentage will reduce below 15%.
- Co2 bottle checked by isotropic gun for weighting.
CO2 ROOM REGULATION
- Co2 room should not used for other purposes.
- Co2 room should be in one deck below the open deck . Stairway or lader should be provided.
- Co2 room door should be open outward.
- Mechanical ventilation should be provided .
- Ventilation should be 6 air change per hours.
- Co2 room temperature maintenance below 55°C.
- Co2 room height should be 2.4 m .
SAFETY ON CO2 BOTTLE
Trip switch
- It will cut off the ventilation
- And start audible and visible alarm.
Master valve
- On main manifold line. Which is going ro machinery space or cargo space.
- It will not allow the co2. if accidentally release.
Relief valve:
- It will located on end of the manifold.
- It will lift manifold pressure is exceeded.
Safety pin :
- It will be in bottle head assembly.
Busting disk:
- It will also in bottle head assembly.
Non return valve:
- Located between bottle head and manifold.
- It will not allow the back flow of co2 when specific bottles are in operation.
Co2 leak alarm:
- It will located on nthe manifold.
- It will work @ 4 bar.
Maintenance and check on Co2 System
Check all cylinders are properly secured.
Check all cylinder's operating leavers.
Check clamping.
Flexible hose should be checked.
